Christopher J. Brennan

Mr. Brennan has litigated for over 25 years with dozens of trials to verdict in both bench and jury trials. A substantial part of his career has been devoted to representing insureds on behalf of various carriers in the areas of complex general liability, employment practices, construction defects, automobile liability, and defense of public entities, including civil rights litigation.
He is likewise experienced in various areas of commercial law, including the drafting of commercial instruments and in commercial dispute resolution forums, whether in state or federal court litigation, and in both courts of law and courts of equity, or by arbitration and mediation and negotiated settlement.
He has also litigated insurance coverage and declaratory judgment actions both at the trial level and on appeal and was the lead counsel for the prevailing party in American Millennium Ins. Co. v. Berganza, 386 N.J. Super. 485, 902 A.2d 266 (App. Div. 2006), an insurance coverage appeal of first impression in New Jersey.
Mr. Brennan’s insurance regulatory experience includes his time at the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance as the Chief of Merger and Acquisition reviews, including sufficiency analysis of financial and statutory requirements and legal requisites for merger and acquisition, including by venture capital entities and private equity firms. He was also appointed by the Department’s commissioner as the receiver and liquidator of an automobile carrier writing high-risk auto policies.
Mr. Brennan is a 1991 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of New York University and received his juris doctor in 2000 from Seton Hall University School of Law.
He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and the Federal District Court for the United States District of New Jersey, and has appeared pro hac vice in Massachusetts and Nebraska.
